Happy Birthday Wren!

Wren is 3 today!  Well, I suppose she is 3 at 9:57pm , but we are celebrating early.  We had a fun fun fun day!

playdate birthday party!

Grandma Lynn and Gpa helped us throw a little party for wren and a couple of her friends.  She painted faces, hands, made balloon hats and animals and even did the bird song with her fun puppet! Everyone had a ton of fun!

grandma and gpa fun!

Grandma Lynn and Gpa came to visit and celebrate Wren's 3rd birthday.  They brought a lot of fun presents and wren especially loved the "Silly Sock" game!  She is holding the washing machine for it in one of the pictures below.

The kids both had check-ups today and here are there stats if you care!

Z
6 months
weight – 17lbs 12 oz (48%)
length – 28in (89%)
head size – 45.5 cm (88%)

Wren
3 years
weight – 28lbs 6 oz (26%) BMI 53
height – 35.5in
blood pressure – 88/56
vision – R 20/30 L 20/30

Wren's appointment was interesting because they gave her a vision test with shapes and had her jump and draw… If I knew she was going to be tested we would have studied!  She did good though and I think she had a lot of fun… until the shot.  She must have forgotten that they hurt because she was fine until the needle went in and then carried on for a while.  Z cried after his for like 2 seconds and was fine.

happy early birthday!

Wren is getting a new bed for her birthday and the first part came today!  So, no she isn't just getting an upgraded mat, but it is a futon mattress for her platform bed.  It's all cotton and should be better for her back than an innerspring mattress.  She was so excited when it came today (she had no idea) and is sleeping on the mattress tonight!  (in her room, not the living room where we took this picture!)

cleaning the grill

I thought I'd clean the grill while wren was outside playing and she wanted to help… she thought it was the most fun thing ever.  I told her that we'll have to wash the cars sometime soon and that will be even more fun!

rolly polly blanket boy

I had z laying on the blanket and he was grabbing it and rolling around and when I came back this is how I found him.  He was rather proud of himself!

Here is z chilling in the stroller while we worked on the garden.  I was surprised how long he lasted in it.  He really likes sitting up more now.  There is also a picture of some of the wires (conduit??) that marc found while digging in the garden.  It's kind of disturbing and I'm not sure if anything will grow there, but it will be fun to try.  Wren helped a ton and loved being outside, but I guess she didn't make it in the photos…

catch up!

I've been taking pictures, but not posting them!  argh!  Here are some from yesterday.  We went to the park with our friends and I think I got better pictures of them than I did of wren!  I was wearing z so no pictures of him.  Olivia kept saying 'look at me!' which is what she was doing in her picture and Sophia loved crawling through the tunnel.  Julian had fun going down the slide and wren loved the motorcycle and shoveling up the rocks.

Over the past weekend we dug up a spot for a garden and marc found some interesting stuff in the dirt… pictures to come!

z’s doing us a solid!

z is 6 months old today, and he got to try solid food for the first time. he had a bit of pear. we couldn’t really tell if he liked it or not. he didn’t make any weird faces so i’m guessing he mostly liked it.

My Aunt Donna and Uncle Rick (and family) bought this for Wren (I think) before she was born.  I contemplated trying to turn it into a dress last summer, but never got around to it.  It finally almost fits her and she wore it tonight to bed.  It made me smile :)  Somebody… well tons of people… love us in chicago!

And a picture from yesterday of wren's first successful carousel ride.  She was on one once before, but was too scared to ride on an animal so her and marc rode on the bench.  She had so much fun, but unfortunately the picture doesn't capture her excitement…

Beautiful day!

Nice weather at the park!

happy mother’s day!

Great grandma Lee Lee!

Nursing laney

I caught wren nursing laney…using a blanket to cover up this time. She told me laney ‘just wants to eat all the time’.

Times Square

zoo and sandy’s!

Yesterday we went to the Brookfield Zoo with Grandma Lynn and it was so much fun!  Here are a few pictures from that and a couple from tonight.  We visited with Sandy and Jamal and finally saw their apartment!  Jamal was reading wren a book about his favorite bicycle guy and sandy didn't want to be in any pictures she just wanted to take them :).

me and my dad!

more chicago fun…
